Xbe stands for Xbox Executable. These are the running files that can be opened by Xbox Emulator.
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) files can be played as games on your computer with the proper software, such as a video player that can play .ISO files. Xbox Executable (XBE) files can be played as Xbox games when opened on your computer with an Xbox game-playing program. Converting your .ISO files into .XBE files so you can play the .ISO file as an Xbox game on your Personal Computer (PC) requires downloaded conversion software and an Xbox emulator.
Open your web browser. Find an ISO-to-XBE converter, such as 'C-Xbox Tool,' 'ADR Patcher' or 'Craxtion' at Tacoban, 4shared or XBoxISOZone (see Resources). Download it to your computer's desktop.
Move your Xbox .ISO file, such as 'Halo.ISO,' onto your computer's desktop with your computer's search function. Type in 'Halo.ISO' to your search text bar and press 'Enter' or 'Return' with your keyboard. Find the file in your computer's displayed search results and click it to select it. Drag it onto your desktop.
Open your ISO-to-XBE converter, such as 'CXbox Tool v2.0.6,' by double-clicking its '.exe' file on your desktop with your mouse. Click the 'XBE-Patch' button with your mouse under your 'CXBox Tool v2.0.6' window. Consult your converter's attached 'Read-Me' text file or go up to its help menu if you aren't sure how to open your converter.
Click your 'Halo.ISO' file and drag it on top of your 'XBE-File' text bar inside your 'CXBox Tool v2.0.6' window with your mouse. Release your mouse button to drop your file inside the 'XBE-File' text box. Click the 'Apply patch' button below to patch your 'Halo.ISO' file into a 'Halo.XBE' file. Consult your converter's attached 'Read-Me' text file or go up to its help menu if you aren't sure how to convert your '.ISO' file into an '.XBE' file.
Go back to your desktop and open your 'Halo.XBE' file with an Xbox game-playing program, such as 'Xeon,' 'CXBX' or 'Click-2U' (see Resources) to finish.

Xbox is one of the most difficult consoles to create an emulator for, as its specs are demanding. The biggest problem for gamers hasn't been the system requirements though but the lack of an appropriate program to run commercial games, using their ISO file. 'Xeon' is the most reliable emulator, capable of running games you find on stores, even though its level of support is still low.
Go to the Emulator Zone, at emulator-zone.com. From the main page, click on the 'Microsoft Xbox' link, at the left end of the screen.
Choose the Xeon emulator from the list. Xbox's specs are listed on this page as well, in case you want to compare its capabilities with your PC's.
Choose Xeon 1.0 from the list. It is the only emulator running commercial games, with Halo's NTSC version being the first of them. Your system requirements, in order to run a game properly, are also mentioned on this page, so make sure your hardware can support the emulator.
Download the file. It will be compressed, so make sure you create a new folder, before you attempt to decompress it. You don't want to lose any of its '.dll' files.
To run the ISO games, simply drag them on the application, or use the 'Open' option of the program.
Tips

Keep searching for new updates of the emulator. Halo was the first commercial game to be run by Xeon, but the list keeps expanding with newer updates and patches.
When using the emulator, close any unnecessary applications, to make full use of your CPU's capabilities.
Warnings

Always check the files you download for viruses. Emulators and ISO files are not official Microsoft products, so be wary of possible dangers.
